The Early Offer is RecruitingNation's regular feature, giving you a daily dose of recruiting in the mornings. Wednesday's Early Offering is coming to you from the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando. Here’s a sampling of some of the top news from the event so far and a look at who stood out in the third day of practices
Brown suffers shoulder injury
Cornerback Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen) was having a tremendous week of practices at the UA Game, but his week took a sudden turn when he suffered a shoulder injury during Tuesday’s practices. Brown was hurt while reaching to defend a pass in a non-contact coverage drill. He received medical attention at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and was transported from the practice facility by cart, his head buried in his hands and his arm in a sling. Brown's mother said Tuesday afternoon that her son still would like to play in the game, but it’s unclear whether he will. He is still on schedule to announce his college decision.
Crabby’s Fab Five
Here are five players who caught my attention at Tuesday’s third day of practice: From Team Highlight, Auburn linebacker commit Tre' Williams (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul’s Episcopal School) and Florida State linebacker commit Kain Daub (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood) had their best practice of the week. On one play, Williams flung his entire body at running back Leonard Fournette (New Orleans/St. Augustine) in a tackle attempt. A few plays later, Daub hit Auburn running back commit Racean Thomas (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) so hard he broke several clips on Thomas’ facemask, causing it to hang from the helmet. For the third straight day, Alabama receiver commit Cameron Sims (Monroe, La./Ouachita Parish) came to play. To me, nobody’s stock has improved more than his. Another repeat member is Ohio State linebacker commit Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County), who looked good on inside run drills and also in 7-on-7. Oregon quarterback Morgan Mahalak (Kentfield, Calif./Marin Catholic) also seemed to hit his stride in the third day of practices. He put the ball in a lot of tight windows and seems to have built a connection with Nitro receivers.
Talking with the stars
In case you missed it Tuesday, RecruitingNation did a Spreecast where we broke down the top players so far from practices and answered a number of user questions. We also had some special guests join us, including No. 1 player Fournette (New Orleans/St. Augustine) and No. 3 safety Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron). Both previewed their upcoming announcements that will be made during Thursday’s game. Check it out if you’ve not had a chance by following the link: Under Armour Media Day.
