Class of 2015 quarterback Koy Detmer Jr. (Somerset, Texas/Somerset) has the name. He also has the game.

What he doesn’t have -- at least right now -- is the size, and it’s Detmer’s mission to show that size at quarterback is irrelevant.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Detmer is on the short side when it comes to being recruited as a college quarterback. However, he has the skill set -- and the genes -- to get the job done. His father, Koy Sr., played 10 years in the NFL, 10 of those with the Philadelphia Eagles. His uncle is Ty Detmer, a 1990 Heisman Trophy winner who played 12 seasons in the NFL.

Additionally, Detmer’s grandfather is Sonny Detmer, one of the most respected prep football coaches in Texas. Sonny, who has been coaching for more than four decades, is the head coach at Somerset, and Koy Sr. is the offensive coordinator there.
