BCS looks, new confidence for 2015 QB

LEANDER, Texas -- Ryan Agnew (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) described his recruiting process as slow. He even said it was somewhat nonexistent. After Saturday, that may change.

Agnew, Carroll’s 2015 quarterback, led the Dragons to the Division I championship of the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament. He showed poise, completed passes in tight spaces and, most importantly, showed signs of leadership throughout the tournament.

The result? The gold-ball trophy, a new, bright-orange champions shirt and tons of smiles around the Carroll camp. That, and loads of confidence.

“Going in my junior year, I do it for my teammates,” Agnew said. “I see the seniors working hard every day, so I go out to workouts to do the best I can. I want to make sure I do all I could to help them.

“Winning a championship here and seeing we’ve produced, we know we’re as good as we can be as long as we put our minds to it and stay focused.”
