North Carolina secured a commitment from rising senior outside linebacker Malik Carney (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams), according to multiple reports.
Last week, Carney informed the Washington Post that UNC, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Connecticut and Toledo were his finalists.
Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Old Dominion and Western Michigan also offered the 6-foot-2, 208-pound prospect. Duke, Maryland, North Carolina State and Virginia expressed interest.
Carney performed well this spring on the Nike combine circuit, posting an electronically-timed 4.90 40-yard dash, 4.35 20-yard shuttle, 31.9-inch vertical, 37.5-foot power throw and 80.28 SPARQ.
The Tar Heels' class stands at 15.
