Diablo Valley College (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) offensive tackle De'Ondre Wesley is now set to play for Brigham Young, according to the Deseret News. He originally gave a soft commitment to Utah in September despite actually wanting to play for Arizona State, but the Sun Devils never offered.
“That was tough when I was told I couldn’t go there,” he told the paper. “I mean, I loved the school, the football program -- everything was perfect in my mind, so when I was told that it was a huge blow to me.”
However, Wesley is pleased with his choice, “I didn’t know much of anything about BYU and it’s different -- real different, but in a good way. The community there is so friendly and I seriously felt at home even though I’m not Mormon and all that.”
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect, rated No. 60 in the ESPN JC 100, was also recruited by Fresno State, Oregon State and Purdue, among others.
