Linebacker / fullback Josey Jewell (Decorah, Ia./Decorah) committed Monday to play for the in-state Hawkeyes, the Decorah News reports.
"I am very thankful and excited to have the opportunity to become a Hawkeye," he said. "My teammates, teachers and coaches have done a great deal to help me reach this point. I am hopeful that the lessons learned thus far from them will help me contribute as much as I can to the Iowa Football program."
Northern Iowa also extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior, who plays baseball and basketball and runs track in addition to his work on the gridiron.
Jewell earned all-state recognition each of the past two season, rushing for a combined 3,240 yards and 42 touchdowns and recording 190 solo tackles and 120 assists. Decorah won the Class 3A State Championship this fall.
