Three-star wide receiver Sammie Long (Lakewood, Wash./Lakes) thought his future was set early in the recruiting process. He committed to in-state Washington last March. However, the two recently parted ways, and Long had to consider new options.
In the last two months, he took official visits to Montana (Dec. 7), Idaho (Jan. 11), Colorado State (Jan. 18) and Eastern Washington (Jan. 25). Friday, he announced for Jim McElwain's Rams.
Nevada also offered the 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior. Programs such as California, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington State showed interest.
ESPN describes Long as, "a big possession receiver who is at his best on the outside utilized on underneath routes with upside as a red zone target due to his size ... is a developmental guy at this stage."
Long is Colorado State's 24th pledge.
