Three-star pass-catcher Ryan Smith (Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman) switched his commitment Tuesday from New Mexico to Duke, according to the Las Vegas Sun. He traveled to Durham, N.C., last weekend for an official visit.
Smith originally committed to the Lobos in December. His father, DeAndre Smith, was a first-year running backs coach at New Mexico. Last week, DeAndre Smith left New Mexico for the same position at Syracuse.
Ryan took additional officials to Utah State (Sept. 7), Colorado State (Dec. 7) and New Mexico (Dec. 14). Boise State, California and UNLV also showed interest in the 5-foot-7, 160-pound senior.
