At the beginning of the mid-year period in December, Illinois signed five junior college players. This week, the program announced the addition of five high school players who joined the team and started classes at the University.
The group is headlined Illinois's highest-rated 2013 recruit, four-star athlete Darius Mosley (O'Fallon, Ill./Township), whose expected to play defensive back. He'll be joined in the secondary by three-star safety Dillan Cazley (Charleston, Ill./Charleston). A trio of three-star offensive tackles, Jesse Chadwell (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston), Christian DiLauro (Green, Ohio/Green) and Austin Schmidt (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy), rounds out the mid-year class.
24 players are committed or already signed in Illinois' 2013 class, which has hovered around the bottom of ESPN's top 40 this year.
