Arizona State made a push for a two-way lineman from California this past weekend and was rewarded almost immediately, as the Sun Devils gained commitment No. 24 for their 2013 recruiting class.
Defensive tackle Jack Powers (Salinas, Calif./Palma) was contacted by Arizona State last Thursday and an official visit was quickly scheduled. On Sunday, the Sun Devils coaches had seen enough of the 6-foot-6, 248-pound Powers to extend a scholarship offer.
Powers said head coach Todd Graham told him to return home and talk about the offer with his family. On Tuesday, Arizona State offensive line coach Bob Connelly followed up with an in-home visit, and Powers committed.
