Tulsa an early leader for Ray Crockett

Cornerback Ray Crockett (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) has the name recognition. His father, also named Ray, played 14 years in the NFL and won two Super Bowl titles with the Denver Broncos.
So like most players with NFL fathers, Crockett was tested by opponents. And like most players with NFL fathers, when tested, Crockett stepped up. The 6-foot, 160-pound defensive back was a first-team, all-district selection who helped Carroll advance to the Texas Class 5A Division I state quarterfinals.
“It’s a good and bad,” Crockett said of having a famous dad. “I get the notoriety because of my name, but it can be a bad thing, too. If you don’t perform, people will start to question. You’ve got to have tough skin, and that’s one thing I’ve learned. You just have to keep working hard.”
