According to a release from head coach Todd Graham on the school's official site, Arizona State signed five players for the early period. The group includes one December high school graduate, a former Colorado signee, two junior college teammates, and a transfer from Auburn.
Chans Cox (Lakesize, Ariz./Blue Ridge), a 6-foot-2, 225-pound three-star athlete, will finish high school early and join the Sun Devils' linebacker corps in January. "He's big, fast, strong and versatile, and he's going to be a guy that will be impactful to our program in a hurry," Graham said.
Kisima Jagne (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler), a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end who signed with Colorado in 2012 as a three-star prospect, is now set for ASU. "Kisima is a guy that fits our hybrid system because, among other things, his great ability to rush the passer," Graham noted.
A pair of American River College offensive linemen --- 6-foot-3, 280-pound Nick Kelly (Orangevale, Calif.) and 6-foot-4, 280-pound Josh Tremblay (Napa, Calif.) -- will continue their careers together at ASU. Graham said of them, "Nick is a true center and is someone who understands the game very well and can come in right away and compete. Josh is versatile and can play guard or tackle, and obviously he has great size and a toughness that you can't teach."
Offensive lineman Christian Westerman (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton), the No. 6-rated player in the 2011 ESPN 150, is set to transfer from Auburn. Graham said of the 6-foot-4, 303-pounder: "We're excited to add Christian, who is one of the best players to have come out of this state in a while. ... I think Christian said that he's gotten more love in the past two days than he got two years somewhere else."
Arizona State has 14 players verbally committed and five players signed for 2013.
