Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy offensive tackle Jonathan McLaughlin committed Thursday to sign with Virginia Tech, multiple sources report.
McLaughlin, a three-star prospect, originally picked East Carolina for the 2012 class out of Mauldin (S.C.) High School. He failed to qualify and headed to Fork Union. According to some sources, McLaughlin had recommitted to the Pirates for 2013.
“Coach Frank Beamer came to see me at Fork Union, then he went from Fork Union to go see my parents in South Carolina,” McLaughlin told the Roanoke Times. “And that meant a lot for a legendary coach to do that.”
