Three-star defensive end Malik Brown (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer) committed Wednesday to sign with Syracuse, multiple sources report. He made an official visit for the weekend of Dec. 7.
Brown, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior, also took an official visit to Minnesota (Dec. 14). Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall, Mississippi State, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, South Florida and Tulane were his other offers.
ESPN states in his evaluation, "Brown shows flashes and has some upside, but needs to continue to develop his game as he can seem to rely on natural ability too much. We don't see an immediate contributor and feel he can greatly benefit from a red-shirt, but could develop into a good college defender a little down the road."
Brown is Syracuse's third pledge from Florida for 2013.
