Tight end Arshad Jackson (Hamption, Ga./Lovejoy) announced today that he has decommitted from Auburn, becoming the seventh prospect to do so since Gene Chizik was let go in November. The 6-foot-6, 235-pound prospect had been committed to the Tigers since May, but will now explore other options.
Ole Miss and Florida State, which have recruited Jackson heavily in the last few weeks, are considered the front-runners to land the three-star recruit. But Jackson is open to other programs as well.
“I decided to decommit and open up my recruitment,” Jackson said. “I really do not know all of the schools I am considering at the moment.”
Other than Jackson, linebackers Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala./Auburn), Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett), Jarrad Davis (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County), wide receiver Ja’Quay Williams (Tyrone, Ga./Fork Union Prep), athlete Lemond Johnson (Cooper City, Fla./Cooper City) and cornerback Jahmere Irvin-Sills (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy) have also decommitted from Auburn in the last three weeks.
