Fresno State stayed hot on the recruiting trail, as it added the fifth verbal commitment in a week on the defensive side of the ball, as Dionza Blue (La Puente, Calif./Bishop Amat) said yes to the Bulldogs.
"I've been talking to may parents about it and I really like the school," Blue said. "I want to be a Bulldog and that's it."
Blue will have a chance to see the Fresno State campus for the first time when he takes an official visit in January, but the 5-foot-11, 174-pound two-way standout has developed a strong connection with the Bulldogs coaches.
"I've had meetings with Coach [Tim] McDonald and some of the other coaches and they are good people," Blue said. "I like what they're trying to do up there. I like how they run the defense and I like how they run the program."
Blue said the Bulldogs see him as a cornerback in their defense, and although he stood out as a tailback this season, he doesn't foresee any issues in moving to that side of the ball.
"I like cornerback and I like offense," he said. "But I'm comfortable with whatever position they put me. They have a lot of good history with a bunch of corners they've put into the league, so that also helped me with my decision. The run a nickel defense, so there will be an extra chance for playing time if I come in ready to play."
Blue is commitment No. 11 for Fresno State in the 2013 recruiting class. He said he will still take a scheduled official visit to Boise State on Jan. 25, but is excited to have made a commitment to the Bulldogs.
