Matthews (N.C.) Butler head coach Brian Hales said quarterback Riley Ferguson has spoken to newly hired Tennessee head coach Butch Jones. However, Hales said he's not sure what the four-star prospect thinks of the Vols after another coaching change. Ferguson could not be immediately reached for comment.

Ferguson is a key prospect for Jones, who was hired to replace former coach Derek Dooley, who was fired last month. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Ferguson is Tennessee's highest-rated commitment in the Volunteers 18-member 2013 class.

Ferguson is rated the No. 15 quarterback in the nation and the No. 211 prospect overall. He is rated the No. 6 prospect in North Carolina. Hales had no qualms about saying that Ferguson would be a good fit for Jones' spread offense.
