Three-star running back Dez Wortham (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron) committed Wednesday to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference for Wake Forest, according to multiple sources.
Colorado State, Connecticut, Houston, Kentucky (Oct. 5th official visit), Navy, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State also offered the 6-foot, 205-pound prospect. Arizona, Indiana, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU and Texas Tech showed interest.
ESPN states in his evaluation: "Wortham is a strong inside runner who flashes steady speed to the outside. Has the size and athleticism for the running back position at the major level of competition. This guy is a tough customer who flashes the inside, power-running ability needed to shorten the game in the fourth quarter."
The Demon Deacons have 16 pledges for 2013. Wortham is their first running back verbal and third commitment from Texas.
