If running back Terrell Newby (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade) thought the end of the season might mean a well-deserved break, he was mistaken. After an agnonizingly-close 30-28 defeat at the hands of Gardena (Calif.) Serra last weekend, Newby's phenomenal season came to an end. But college coaches wasted no time in setting in-home visits and pushing to hopefully sign Newby this February. Those are the side effects of a 2,307-yard season, complete with 45 touchdowns.
"It's going pretty well, but it's getting kind of hectic," Newby said. "Coaches are in your face every day now and I've been eating a lot more. My mom whips up a lot of food when these coaches come over. Last night we had a whole buffet."
Thus far, Newby has hosted coaches from California, Nebraska and Washington. Oregon and UCLA are the other schools working hard to recruit the the 5-foot-9, 185-pound back.
