Despite recruiting without a head coach, the California assistant coaches found success on the recruiting trail this week. After earning a commitment from four-star running back Khalfani Muhammad (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame) on Tuesday afternoon, the Golden Bears added commitment No. 15 on Wednesday night in wide receiver Caleb Coleman (Berkeley, Calif./St. Mary's),
Coleman said he'd been contemplating the commitment for some time and things finally fell into place.
"I talked to Coach [Wes] Chandler because he's the coach recruiting me. He was excited and I was excited to commit," Coleman said. "I was planning the whole year to commit toward the end of my senior season, but things got hectic with the playoffs, so I kept waiting. A couple of other schools came in -- Air Force and Fresno State -- and so I did more research, but I realized that I want to be at Cal."
