Tedric Thompson is looking to set visits

11/29/2012

With six offers on the table, three-star safety Tedric Thompson (Valencia, Calif./Valencia) figured it was about time to start thinking about scheduling official visits, though it didn't take long for him to come up with his first trip.

"I'm trying to set up an official visit to Fresno State for December 14," Thompson said. "Fresno State contacts me a lot, so I feel like that should be my first visit."

Thompson said he has a great relationship with assistant coach Jordan Peterson at Fresno State, although the Bulldogs aren't the only program recruiting the 6-foot-1, 205-pound athlete.

Thompson holds offers from Colorado, Hawaii, Minnesota, UNLV and Washington State as well, and said he would like to take official visits to Colorado and Hawaii as well. The vacant head coaching position at Colorado won't affect Thompson as he searches for the right fit.

"I still want to go up and take a look at the campus," he said.

He starred on both sides of the ball this season, as he caught 22 passes for 332 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 58 tackles on defense. But Thompson said every school is recruiting him as a safety at the next level, which suits him just fine.

"I want to play defense," Thompson said. "But wherever any coach needs me to play, I'll try my best to play there."

Thompson paid close attention to Fresno State this season and was very impressed with the Bulldogs' 9-3 record and conference championship. But he said he would like to take all of his visits and will likely wait until signing day to make a commitment.

"I really don't know what I'm looking for in particular on these visits," Thompson said. "But I talked to my brother about it and he said that when I take the visits, I should just see if I can picture myself being there for four years."
