RB Khalfani Muhammad commits to Cal

The California Golden Bears are still without a head coach, but Tuesday afternoon proved yet again how important assistant coaches are in the recruiting process. Assistant coach and run game coordinator Ron Gould was in Southern California to meet with running back Khalfani Muhammad (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame) and walked away with a commitment from the four-star back.

"I thought it was the best fit for me," Muhammad said. "I took a few visits and looked around, but Cal is where I should be."

Muhammad said he wasn't concerned about the lack of a head coach, but Gould's future with the program could still play a role for the 5-foot-8, 174-pound back.
