Butler Community College (El Dorado, Kan.) ball-carrier Dreamius Smith committed Monday to sign with the Mountaineers, according to multiple sources.
The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Smith also had scholarship offers from Oklahoma State (official visit Nov. 16), Boise State, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State and Northern Illinois, while Oklahoma showed some interest.
He originally signed with Kansas in 2011 as a three-star prospect from Wichita Heights High School. At that time, ESPN said Smith "shows flashes of a good size to speed combination and projects best as a downhill back at the next level ... shows he can block and should be able to contribute as both a fullback and tailback ... may be falling slightly under the radar with the total package he brings to the table."
West Virginia now has 20 commitments. The Mountaineers have pledges from four other three-star running backs: Zaire Williams (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek), Wendall Smallwood (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian), DeShawn Coleman (Hermitage, Va./Hickory) and Jacky Marcellus (Immokalee, Fla./Immokalee).
