Los Angeles Southwest College safety Tevin Carter, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect, has given the Utes his commitment, according to multiple reports.
He originally signed with California in 2010 as a three-star wide receiver prospect from Santee High School (Los Angeles). He redshirted at Cal before heading to Southwest.
His switch to defense isn't surprising given ESPN's description of Carter coming out of Santee, "Carter is a big, physically-imposing prospect with terrific measurables and a competitive demeanor... has the physical tools and measurables to become a playmaker at the next level. He is also a tenacious blocker that takes pride in this role."
The Utes now have 24 pledges, including five from junior college players, for this recruiting cycle.
