Cornerback Michiah Quick (Fresno, Calif./Central) will be one of the most highly recruited California prospects in the 2014 class, but the 6-foot, 170-pound junior won't rush into the recruiting process. His offer sheet already stretches well into double digits -- Quick estimates he is at 16 -- as programs across the country have entered the race, including California, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington.
While offers from the Fighting Irish, Sooners and Huskies caught his eye in the early going, Quick is in no hurry to begin the recruiting process.
"It was a surprise," Quick said of how quickly his recruitment escalated. "But I just have to stay on track and keep working -- stay humble. I'm just making sure I stay on my grades. I can take care of that [recruiting] stuff afterward. I don't want to get off track."
