Being a member of Nebraska’s “Blackshirts” holds a lot of weight for a defensive player. For 2014 defensive end Peyton Newell (Hiawatha, Kan./Hiawatha), it could be a major factor in his recruiting process when decision time comes.
Newell made his third trip to Lincoln, Neb., and took in his second Cornhuskers game on Saturday. He watched Nebraska rally from a double-digit deficit in the second half to beat Penn State 32-23.
“I really enjoyed the game,” said Newell, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive end. “Out of anything, it’s the coaching staff and how crazy the fans are, but you’ve got to like the Blackshirts. Nebraska is all about defense.”
