Temple has an early offer out to 2014 athlete Thadd Smith (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara), and the Owls made the Philadelphia-area prospect feel at home while on a visit Saturday.
“The Temple visit was good even though they lost. I had a lot of fun. They treated me like I was a part of their TU family,” Smith said.
The 5-foot-8, 163-pound Smith has a Rutgers offer, too, and programs such as Georgia, Michigan State, Penn State and South Carolina have shown early interest. Smith believes he is best suited for offense as a running back or slot receiver, but he also plays cornerback.
The Temple coaches let Smith know they just want him to stay home and they will worry about a position later.
“That I’m a great player and that they would love to have me there,” Smith said of the message he got from the Owls coaches.
Smith will visit West Virginia for the Oklahoma game Nov. 17.
