Georgia Tech gets back in the game

11/11/2012

Wide receiver Jumichael Ramos (Lovejoy, Ga./Lovejoy) committed Friday night to play for the Yellow Jackets, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is Georgia Tech's first pledge since mid-July.

Ramos, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior, chose Paul Johnson's program over scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee and South Florida. GT wide receivers coach Al "Buzz" Preston was his primary recruiter.

“I just felt like Georgia Tech would be the best fit for me,” Ramos told the AJC. “I know I can block, and I can make big plays when needed. I feel like that’s what they do with wide receivers in their offensive scheme, and I’m a good fit for that.”

Ramos will be evaluated and graded this week by ESPN. The AJC describes him as "a raw and underdeveloped football prospect with a high ceiling of potential." He's also a versatile and productive basketball player who averaged 18 points per game as a junior while playing every position but point guard.

Another Lovejoy prospect, three-star running back Travis Custis, announced for the Yellow Jackets in April. Ramos is their second pledge at wide receiver, joining three-star Antonio Messick (Fayetteville, Ga./Fayetteville County).

Georgia Tech has 14 verbals for 2013.
