Outside linebacker Ray Davison (Encino, Calif./Crespi) planned to commit to Northwestern on his official visit. But this past Thursday, he realized that wasn't soon enough for him.
"Just talking it over with my family at the dinner table for a couple weeks, we were talking about where my future lies and what's best for me," Davison said. "I already kind of knew that I was going to go to Northwestern. I knew it was where I wanted to go."
Davison had an official visit planned for last weekend but had to reschedule it. He isn't sure whether he will take the official visit over Thanksgiving weekend or one of the first two weeks in December, but now, he's certain that his parents will accompany him and he'll make it as a member of Northwestern's 2013 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound linebacker held offers from Boise State, Colorado State, Iowa State and San Diego State, among others, but the offer from Northwestern tipped the scales immediately.
He hasn't spoken to the coaches about exactly where he fits in defensively, but he said he's excited to play any of the linebacker positions under head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Davison is commitment No. 18 over for Northwestern and No. 4 from the state of California.
