Top junior Jay Hayes picks Notre Dame

Highly coveted 2014 offensive tackle Jay Hayes (Brooklyn, N.Y./Poly Prep) made an early commitment Wednesday to sign with Notre Dame, according to multiple sources.
Several outlets reported offers for Hayes from UConn, Maryland, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, UCLA and Wisconsin.
247Sports also lists Alabama, Boise State, Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami-FL, N.C. State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Washington as having offered.
Hayes, a 6-foot-5, 270-pound prospect, is the third junior to give Notre Dame an early verbal. ESPN Watch List linebacker Greer Martini (Woodberry Forest, Va.) and ESPN Watch List wide receiver Justin Brent (Speedway, Ind.) announced their decisions in July.
