Three-star defensive tackle Ryan Steele (Kingsburg, Calif.), a 6-foot, 287-pound senior, has committed to play for Fresno State, multiple sources report.
Nevada, New Mexico State and Utah State also extended scholarship offers to Steele. Pac-12 programs such as Oregon State and UCLA showed interest.
ESPN states his his evaluation, "Steele is not the most dynamic presence inside, but he displays good strength and uses his hands well, and with a combination of technique and some good physical tools, he could develop into a productive player in the trenches at the college level."
Fresno State has only secured six pledges during this cycle but is picking up quality players. Its class is headlined by ESPN 150 and Elite 11 quarterback Zack Greenlee (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln). Three of the Bulldog's other verbals, including Steele, have been evaluated by ESPN, all receiving three-star grades.
