Four-star defensive tackle Quay Evans (Morton, Miss.), ranked No. 102 in the ESPNU 150, committed to play for Mississippi State Thursday, multiple sources report.
Evans, 6-foot-2, 315-pounds, selected the Bulldogs over scholarship offers from Auburn, USC, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami-FL and Southern Miss.
"I feel like that, as time goes on and the players commit, one day (Dan Mullen) is going to have that team like LSU and Alabama," Evans told the Clarion Ledger. "I want to be a part of a program like that, instead of a team that has already won numerous titles."
He's slated to join 6-foot-5, 335-pound Nick James (Long Beach, Miss.), a four-star recruit, to form one of this class' most talented defensive tackle duos once the pair arrives in Starkville.
Mississippi State now has 22 verbals. Evans, who registered 68 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a senior, is the top-rated recruit for the Bulldogs and their first from the ESPNU 150.
