James Franklin posted a big win this weekend on the field and another one off it as he lands a commitment from DeAndre Woods (Pinson, Ala./Clay-Chalkville), an ESPN 300 wide receiver, who was being recruited by a lot of top programs. Wide receiver was a need in this class, and Woods’ commitment becomes even more significant when you factor in the decommitment of Dominic Walker (Orlando, Fla./Maynard Evans) who was another big outside receiver that fits well in this passing offense that likes to utilize outside receivers with the physical measurables to create mismatches.

They have those dimensions with Woods, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder who can get outside and quickly up the sideline to stretch the field. He has a go-to feel with his ability to shield and gain positioning over smaller defensive backs on vertical throws. Woods is that big target that creates plays outside the numbers with his big hands and large catch radius but is also productive on deep in-cuts as he can settle in zone windows and withstand the hit over the middle. After the catch, he is not a game-breaker with great speed or elusiveness but will get North and break some tackles for extra production.
