Washington State pledge DeMarcus Ayers (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster) hasn’t wavered on his commitment, but the offers continue to pile up for the three-star athlete.
Ayers picked up an offer from Houston on Tuesday, upping his total to 19 overall. He committed to Washington State in June but said Houston brings some intrigue into the recruiting picture.
“At first, they were recruiting me the hardest at corner,” Ayers said, “but then the receivers coach got in the mix. It’s up to me where I want to play if I were to go there.”
Ayers added that his cousin, Jherrod Stiggers, attends Houston. Stiggers is a redshirt freshman for the Cougars basketball team.
Ayers has offers from West Virginia, Arizona State, SMU, Tulsa, New Mexico and a host of other programs. He is a quarterback for Lancaster but is expected to play receiver at Washington State. At 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, he can play all over the field and also be a reliable kickoff returner or punt returner in college.
