Offensive lineman Ryan Glenn (Waukee, Iowa/Waukee) grew up an Iowa State Cyclones fan. On Friday, he was able to boast that his childhood favorite also would be his future college football program.
Glenn verbally committed to the Cyclones and became the program’s 18th commit of the 2013 recruiting class. Glenn chose Iowa State over Western Illinois, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
“I’ve been a fan of Iowa State since I was a little kid. I went to my first game when I was 7,” said Glenn, a versatile lineman who can play tackle but most likely will be an interior lineman for Iowa State. “It’s a dream come true for me, and I thank Coach [Paul] Rhoads for giving me an opportunity.”
Recruited by defensive tackles coach Shane Burnham, Glenn is a returning all-state player for Waukee. In addition to being a longtime fan, Glenn said he liked the fact that Iowa State was establishing itself as a Big 12 competitor.
“Iowa State’s really on the upswing,” he said. “I appreciate that as a fan and as a player. It’s a really good place to be for the future.”
Glenn is the second player from Iowa to commit to the Cyclones, joining the program’s top-rated commit, high three-star quarterback Joel Lanning (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny).
