Scouts: White has SEC caliber cover skills

James Franklin and the Vanderbilt Commodores are certainly recruiting well in 2013. They have boosted their passing offense with a pair of athletic quarterbacks and big outside receiving targets. Now Franklin has lured a top-25 rated perimeter prospect on defense in Ryan White (Louisville, Ky./Trinity), a former Louisville commit with SEC caliber coverage skills. The instinctive White is adept in both man and zone coverages showing a keen understanding on how to play the two schemes with the athleticism to make plays in both. He lacks ideal size and speed measurables on paper but plays bigger and faster on film and possesses a physical side in both coverage and run support. This well-rounded prospect can close, tackle and make plays with ball skills, that versatile skill-set should put him a position to challenge for early playing time at both corner and on special teams for Vandy.
