With offers from the likes of Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Washington, California, Boise State and many more, Egu is preparing to narrow his list down to five in the coming weeks. With 15 offers to date, Egu has cut his list to eight and will cut three more within a couple of weeks.
"Right now I have eight schools in mind and I will be putting out a top five list in a couple of weeks once I determine which five schools I want to continue to look at," Egu said.
Northwestern, Cal, Colorado, Oregon and Boise State are schools in the most frequent contact with Egu recently. UCLA is also coming on strong, as it has increased contact with the rising star.
"UCLA has been calling a lot. they just want to see some more film from our first couple of games and they said an offer is most likely coming," Egu said.
Oregon has always had strong ties to De La Salle, and Egu has taken notice of that.
"Coach Aliotti and Coach Pellum are my two main recruiters for Oregon," Egu said. "Aliotti knows our program really well and we have a great relationship. I would love to play for DP (Pellum) and Coach Aliotti. Their defensive style is fun to watch and I think I would be a good fit."
In addition to Aliotti, Egu has other ties to the Ducks in terms of former teammates and friends who now attend Oregon.
"I know some people up there and they all say the same things about how great it is," he said. "The academic support and the fan support are as good as it gets anywhere in the country. I have a very high interest level in Oregon right now and I don't see that changing any time soon."
Egu plans on cutting his list to five in the coming weeks and then will begin to set his official visits.
"I will probably take my officials either late in my season or right after it," Egu said. "I'd like to get them out of the way as soon as I can once we are done so that I can commit in December. The most important thing to me right now is to focus on a top five and then put all my attention on De La (Salle) so we can get another state championship."
