2013 athlete Gabe Myles (Starkville, Miss.) has committed to play at home for the Bulldogs and follow in the footsteps of his father, Eddie, who played defensive back for Mississippi State from 1987 -90, the Clarion Ledger reports.

The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect plays quarterback for Starkville High School but will likely move to the defensive backfield in college. “I want to be happy at the school and not just love the position,” Myles, who entertained the idea of waiting for a quarterback offer, said. “Being a Mississippi State Bulldog is more important.”

Myles threw for 1,837 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions while also rushing for 849 yards and seven more scores last fall.

The Bulldogs now have eight pledges for 2013, including six in June.
