Charlie Reid talks about Iowa State offer

4/5/2012

Charlie Reid (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) picked up his seventh offer earlier this week, as Iowa State entered the mix for the services of the pass-catching tight end.

Recruited by Iowa State receivers coach Luke Wells, Reid added the Cyclones to a list that already included TCU, UCLA, Arizona, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Connecticut. TCU was his first offer, which he received roughly three weeks ago.

“A lot of people may see it as whatever, but to me, every offer feels like the TCU offer,” Reid said. “It’s truly surreal every time one comes around. Every offer I get really is a blessing. It’s just wonderful.”

Reid said Iowa State is intriguing because of how the program uses their tight ends. A 6-foot-3, 225-pound junior with high-4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash, Reid has caught 69 passes and has compiled nearly 1,100 receiving yards in the last two years. Opportunity for playing time could come early, as the Cyclones have three tight ends who are currently seniors.

“Wherever I go,” Reid said, “I’ll be looking for a school that has a great winning tradition and a good tradition in general. I want to be at a fun place to play and in a good conference. I want to go someplace where I’d like to go to school, even if I wasn’t playing football.”
