The most important thing Tennessee commit Joe Henderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) needs to do is spend time in the weight room. He is a fairly one-dimensional player at this stage as a pass rusher, which could prompt a move to outside linebacker instead of defensive end.

As far as strengths, Henderson is a movement player. He is not a phone-booth player. Needs space and one-on-one situations to consistently win at the line of scrimmage. He has very good speed and initial quickness and displays the motor necessary to succeed. He’s a solid wrap-up tackler that can deliver a pop at point of contact. His areas of improvement include adding weight and bulk to be able to hold up at the point of attack in the run game. He will need to be able to disengage in the run game so that he doesn’t get engulfed by bigger, stronger offensive personnel.

This past summer at The Opening in one-on-one situations, he was no match for OT Cameron Robinson in any way, shape or form. As a pass rusher he does not possess a speed to power ability because he is so light.

We would be willing to bet he plays linebacker or lines up as a nickel pass rusher when he initially arrives.
