EDMOND, Okla. -- Senior quarterback Justice Hansen was presented his honorary game jersey at Edmond Santa Fe High School on Thursday during the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2014 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game. The event was part of a three-month selection tour leading up to the big game.
Hansen, an Oklahoma commitment, is one of 90 players selected to compete in the seventh-annual Under Armour All-America Game presented by American Family Insurance, a nationally televised competition spotlighting the country’s top high school seniors. The 2014 Under Armour All-America Game is set for 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.
“I would like to thank God first because without him none of this is possible,” Hansen said. “He blessed me with all this talent. I would also like to thank Under Armour for this honor. It means a lot to me. ... I would also like to thank my parents. They have done more for me than I could thank them for with a speech.
"I would also like to thank coach [Lance] Manning. My first year here starting was actually his first year, so we have been through a lot together. I would also like to thank the rest of the coaching staff as well. ... I would like to thank my team, too. They make me look better than I really am, I can promise you that.”
Watching all the current NFL and college players in the games before him made the decision to play in the Under Armour All-America Game an easy one.
“It was a huge goal for me as a kid to play in one of these games," he said. "I grew up watching it, watching tons of people who are now in the NFL now and in college play in it. It was always my dream, so it was a no-brainer when they asked. You see all these guys play on Saturdays doing big things, even national championships and even in the NFL now, so it’s really an honor to be playing in this.”
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Hansen is the No. 97 ranked prospect overall in the ESPN 300, and the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the class. He committed to Oklahoma over Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Auburn, Kansas State, Arkansas and others.
