Three-star athlete Greg Stroman (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) committed to Virginia Tech during an announcement ceremony in his high school's auditorium on Saturday, the Washington Post reports.

The Hokies topped Duke and Virginia for his pledge. Campbell, Charleston Southern, Norfolk State and Wisconsin also offered the 5-foot-11, 152-pound prospect.

An offensive dynamo for Stonewall Jackson, Stroman amassed 2,000 passing yards, 1,000 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns last season. However, he's expected to play defense for Frank Beamer.

"I just felt more comfortable," Stroman said. "I feel like I can benefit, learning how to play better at defensive back, and it's a winning program."

Virginia Tech's class is currently ranked 26th by ESPN RecruitingNation.
