The Cardinals picked up their 11th commitment for 2014 on Tuesday from offensive tackle Jared McCray (Minford, Ohio/Minford), the Louisville Courier-Journal reports.
McCray, 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, selected Louisville over scholarship offers from Akron, Kent State and Ohio. The Cardinals are his only BCS offer at this time, but other programs including Cincinnati, Ohio State and West Virginia expressed interest.
Minford coach Brent Daniels spoke with the Courier-Journal about McCray's decision:
"The coaching staff is outstanding and Coach [Charlie] Strong is going to be there the next five years or so (after signing a new contract), that was a big plus in Jared's mind. He liked the school, the facilities and the academics, and he felt that was the place he needed to be."
ESPN considers McCray "a developmental size prospect with good toughness and better than average balance and agility."
He is Louisville's second pledge along the offensive line during this recruiting cycle. Six-foot-5, 269-pound tackle Kavaris Harkless (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian) committed in April.
McCray, Harkless and the rest of Louisville's ungraded verbals will be included as part of ESPN's next rankings update.
