Class of 2014 linebacker Fred Warner (San Marcos, Calif./Mission Hills) committed Tuesday to play for BYU, the Deseret News reports.
“It went down really fast,” Warner said. “I had just been offered by New Mexico State when I got a message to call coach (Nick) Howell and coach (Kelly) Poppinga at BYU. They both told me they really liked what they saw on film and then the very next day I got a message to call (head) coach (Bronco) Mendenhall. He told me the same thing over the phone and told me they wanted to offer me a scholarship.”
Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, UCLA, Washington and Washington State are among the other programs recruiting the 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect.
BYU has now secured five players during this cycle.
