A pair of junior college prospects, four-star wide receiver Jaelen Strong (Philadelphia/Pierce College) and three-star inside linebacker Eriquel Florence (San Pablo, Calif./Contra Costa College), committed to Arizona State on Christmas, multiple sources report.
Strong, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect, selected the Sun Devils over offers from Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Miami-FL, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, Oregon State and Purdue.
While ESPN believes Strong needs to become a more refined player, he is considered the 15th best junior college talent for 2013, and, "very similar to another fine prospect in this class in WR Jonathan Rumph (Cayce, S.C./Holmes CC/Georgia), only Strong may be faster."
The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Florence also received a scholarship offer from Western Kentucky and made an official visit to Houston for the weekend of Dec. 14th.
ESPN says Florence, "displays an aggressive, downhill style between the tackles and is a strong downhill filler."
Arizona State now has 21 commitments or early signings for 2013. The class is highlighted by ESPN 300 dual-threat quarterback Joshua Dobbs (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta), Strong, and his juco teammate and fellow four-star receiver, Joe Morris (Woodland Hills, Calif./Pierce College).
