Cornerback A.J. Coplon (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) has become the 18th class of 2013 pledge for East Carolina, multiple sources report.

“I picked [ECU] because I liked the coaches, and I know some of the players,” Coplon told the New Bern Sun Journal. “I like what they are doing there.”

He is the fourth Havelock senior to make a commitment during this recruiting cycle. Three-star defensive tackle Malcolm Ashley is also set for ECU while three-star athlete Pharoh Cooper and two-star defensive end Kendal Vickers are headed to South Carolina.

Havelock is also the home of 2014 ESPN Watch List running back Derrell Scott, who has already received scholarship offers from programs such as Florida State, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
