Younger Miller heading to Wisconsin

6/27/2012

The trash talking has already begun. Matt Miller (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. John’s Jesuit) and his older brother, Jack, have already traded a couple of barbs.

Jack is a redshirt freshman at Michigan, and on Wednesday, Matt committed to Big Ten counterpart Wisconsin.

“He actually had a week off from last Tuesday to yesterday (Tuesday),” Matt said of his older brother. “He just went back to Ann Arbor yesterday, so we spent a lot of time together. He knew about my decision. Today, the trash talking started over text messages.”

The three-star guard Miller held a handful of BCS offers going into this past weekend before camping at Wisconsin. On Sunday, he went up to Madison and picked up an offer.

“They saw me do a little bit of one-on-one with the O-line coach and go through some drills and everything,” Miller said. “They seen my film, know my grades, know me well. They wanted to see some footwork and technique but really wanted to see me work. They were impressed with my work ethic and toughness.”

Once he arrives on campus, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Miller could play either guard or center. For him, he just can’t wait to make it back to Madison.

“I think there’s so many great things about that place. For anybody who has been to Madison, they couldn’t tell you a bad thing about the place,” Miller said. “It’s a great town, great campus. The prestige of the school and football program and coaches all speaks for itself.

“It felt like the right place for me.”

The Badgers have 10 commitments in the 2013 class, three of which are along the offensive line.
