JaQuan Davidson selects Pitt

Three-star athlete JaQuan Davidson (Elizabeth, Pa./Forward) has given his pledge to the Panthers, according to multiple reports.

UConn, Illinois, Temple, West Virginia, Western Michigan and Youngstown State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-4, 172-pound prospect, who was recruited to play receiver by Pitt.

His high school coach, Mike LeDonne, told the TribLive.com, "Pitt did a heck of a job. He feels comfortable with the staff."

Davidson, who plays quarterback for Elizabeth Forward, had thrown for 489 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 392 more yards prior to Thursday night's game.

Pittsburgh has 18 players on board for 2014.

Shane Roy (Reading, Ohio/Reading) and Brian O'Neill (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) are both on board with Pittsburgh, according to multiple reports.

Roy, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end, selected Pitt over offers from Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Illinois, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Ohio, Toledo and Western Kentucky.

Reading coach Scott Thamann told Cincinnati.com: "He liked so many schools, but Pitt really stood out for him. He really liked the campus and the coaching staff. He likes that they want him to play a true 4-3 defensive end."

Roy earned a first-team all-league selection last fall after registering 22 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks.

O'Neill, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end, also was offered by Coastal Carolina, Colgate, Old Dominion, Tulane, William & Mary and Youngstown State.

The Panthers held just one commitment -- from three-star guard Connor Hayes (Traverse City, Mich./West) -- entering June.

Auggie Sanchez stays local with the Bulls

Senior Auggie Sanchez (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northeast) has committed to play college football across the bay for South Florida, multiple sources report.

Sanchez, a 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, was recruited as a fullback or H-back by the Bulls, while some schools pursued him as a defensive end/linebacker. Florida International, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama and Youngstown State were his other scholarship offers.

Great senior year pays off for Means

Its been quite a senior campaign for Malcolm Means (Lewisville, S.C./Lewisville).

This fall, the two-way standout rushed for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns, caught 28 passes for 580 yards and 7 more scores and recorded 28 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and 4 interceptions.

After Christmas, Means received a qualifying test score, according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. Previously only holding scholarships from FCS programs such as South Carolina State and Youngstown State, N.C. State stepped up and offered the 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect.

OG Ki-Jana Evans to Southern Illinois

The Southern Illinois Salukis scored a commitment from three-star offensive guard Ki-Jana Evans (Chicago/Harlan Community), according to multiple sources.

Evans turned down scholarship offers from several FBS programs, including Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Oregon State, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan. Illinois State and Youngstown State also offered.

The 6-foot-3, 312-pound senior received additional interest from Illinois, Northern Illinois, Utah and West Virginia, among others.

Three-star Johnson rockets to Toledo

Athlete Delando Johnson (Towson, Md./Calvert Hall) committed to Toledo, multiple sources report.

Johnson, who is now the Rockets' highest-rated recruit for the Class of 2013, also had offers from East Carolina, Illinois, Wake Forest and Youngstown State.

ESPN describes Johnson as a "rangy outside linebacker/defensive end 'tweener' " that has a "good ceiling for adding 25-35 pounds and not losing speed or athleticism."

Dorian Brown (Pittsburgh/Baldwin), a 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back, is on board with Ohio, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

“I liked the atmosphere,” Brown said following for Ohio's 34-28 win over Akron. “The campus is pretty nice.”

Buffalo, Duquesne, Navy, Robert Morris and Youngstown State, along with the Zips, were his other offers, according to multiple reports. Programs such as Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia showed interest.

Temple lands tall cornerback Artel Foster

The Owls have picked up a commitment from senior defensive back Artel Foster (Meadville, Pa.), according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“I just like the campus and the coaches at Temple,” Foster said. “I just like their program. I can tell that it is going to be successful.”

Eastern Michigan, Youngstown State and Duquesne also extended scholarship offers to Foster.

The Pitt Panthers have received a commitment from cornerback/safety Titus Howard (Clairton, Pa.), multiple sources report.

Akron, Arkansas State, Connecticut, St. Francis (Pa.), Toledo and Youngstown State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect. Rutgers, among others, showed interest.

"I like the defense. I'm used to it because that's all we play is man coverage [at Clairton]," Howard told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "But everything just felt right for me to make my decision, the coaching staff, the academic stuff they took me through today -- it really just felt like home for me."

Howard is the sixth 2013 verbal for the Panthers from the state of Pennsylvania and eighth overall.

Class of 2013 safety Marcus McWilson (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) committed to play for Nebraska Monday, according to multiple sources.

McWilson, a 6-foot, 195-pound prospect, also received early scholarship offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Purdue, West Virginia and Youngstown State.

Other programs including Notre Dame, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State were showing interest.
