Illinois secures LB Austin Roberts

Class of 2014 inside linebacker Austin Roberts (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) committed Thursday to sign with the Illini, multiple sources report.

Roberts was heavily recruited by non-BCS, FCS and Ivy League schools. Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Columbia, Harvard, Illinois State, North Dakota State, Pennsylvania, South Dakota State, Wyoming and Yale extended offers to the 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect.

He registered 152 total tackles, seven sacks and an interception during his junior campaign.

Illinois now has six pledges.

Rams add combine standout Josh Watson

Inside linebacker Josh Watson (Blue Springs, Mo./South) received his first FBS scholarship offer from Colorado State and has committed to the Rams, multiple sources report.

"I was tired of going to different colleges and being one of the top prospects after camp and not receiving an offer," Watson told the Reporter Herald. "I wanted to go into the season with having an offer and a commitment to a school and not worry about what school I'm going to play at and who was going to offer me. I felt like Colorado State was the place for me to play football."

The 6-foot-1, 233-pound Watson holds an FCS offer from South Dakota State and received interest from Iowa. Colorado State linebackers coach Tim Skipper spearheaded the Rams' pursuit.

Watson was a top performer this spring on the Nike circuit, posting an electronically timed 4.83 40-yard dash, 4.22 20-yard shuttle, 31.7-inch vertical, 37.5-foot power throw and 102 SPARQ.

The Rams have three verbals.

Cornhuskers gain another DT

According to multiple sources, Maliek Collins (Kansas City/Center) is the second 2013 defensive tackle to select Nebraska this weekend, joining Kevin Maurice (Orlando/Freedom).

Collins, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound senior, was in Lincoln, Neb., for an official visit. Cornhuskers offensive line/tight ends coach John Garrison served as his primary recruiter.

Kansas (Nov. 16) and Missouri (Dec. 7) also hosted Collins on official visits. His other scholarship offers include Iowa, Iowa State, South Dakota State, Southeast Missouri State and Tulsa.

Collins, who will be evaluated soon by ESPN, is commitment No. 19 for Nebraska.

New Mexico State lands big corner

Tre Wilcoxen (Redlands, Calif./Inglewood), a 6-foot-1, 191-pound cornerback, has committed to sign with the Aggies, multiple sources report.

Ohio and South Dakota State also offered while programs such as Arizona, Arizona State, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Jose State, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Washington State showed interest.

Wilcoxen earned a first team all-league selection for his performance as a senior.

New Mexico State has six pledges for 2013.

OG Charles Renfree picks Wyoming

The Wyoming Cowboys landed a commitment Sunday from two-star offensive guard Charles Renfree (Phoenix/Brophy Prep), according to multiple sources.

Idaho and South Dakota State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-3, 253-pound senior.

ESPN states in its evaluation: "Renfree is a productive interior lineman who demonstrates solid technique to gain good initial positioning to maintain leverage in both the run and pass game... displays the technique to develop and refine over time and may need a redshirt to gain strength. Projects to a mid-major college program."

He is Wyoming's 10th pledge for 2013. Five of the 10 verbals are from offensive linemen.

Austin Kurke on board with Navy

The Navy Midshipmen have topped multiple Pac-12 schools in picking up a commitment from three-star defensive end Austin Kurke (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo), according to multiple sources.

Arizona State, California, Utah, Air Force, Army, Hawaii and South Dakota State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-4, 221-pound prospect.

ESPN describes him as, "a physical kid with some nastiness who needs to continue to grow as a player. While likely not an immediate contributor, he demonstrates the ability to develop into a productive FBS defender. We wouldn't be surprised if he gained a little more attention with a good senior year."

Senior quarterack Jesse Ertz (Mediapolis, Iowa) pledged to continue his career in the Big 12 for Kansas State, Scout.com reports.

According to Rivals.com, the 6-foot-2, 171-pound Ertz was also recruited by programs such as Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota, Penn and South Dakota State.

Before his junior year, Ertz posted combine-verified figures, including a 4.99 40-yard dash, 4.94 20-yard shuttle and 27.1-inch vertical.

Kansas State has six commitments.

The MAC Huskies have collected pledge No. 8 in Sean Folliard (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge), according to multiple sources.

Folliard, a former safety whose grown into a 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker prospect, was also recruited by Ball State, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.

The Hawkeyes picked up six total commitments over the last week, including two players from inside state lines, according to multiple sources. Ike Boettger and Trevon Young both decided to play for the Big Ten program this weekend.

Boettger is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end from Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was also recruited by Iowa State.

Young, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder from Lincoln High School (Des Moines, Iowa), selected the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Iowa State and South Dakota State.

Iowa now has 15 total commitments for 2013.

Quarterback Chris Streveler (Woodstock, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) committed to play for Minnesota, according to mchenrycountysports.com.

“They like a mobile quarterback who can run eight to 12 times a game,” said Streveler, who is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. “I really liked their system."

Streveler's only other scholarship offer was from South Dakota State. He was also interested in Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Pittsburgh, Harvard and Yale.

Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and South Dakota State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect.

Gerry, a two-way standout, caught 37 passes for 647 yards and eight touchdowns while also registering 73 tackles and two sacks last season.
