Iowa gets back in the game with Truitt

Cornerback Omar Truitt (Washington/St. John's College) committed Monday to sign with Iowa, according to multiple sources, becoming the Hawkeyes' first commitment in two months.

Maryland, Richmond and Syracuse also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect. Boston College, Miami (Fla.), Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia and West Virginia showed interest.

The Hawkeyes have four players on board for 2014. Their class is highlighted by the nation's No. 1-rated offensive guard, Ross Pierschbacher (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), an Under Armour All-American and top-50 player in the ESPN 150.

UMass wins battle for Peter Angeh

Highly-offered senior defensive end Peter Angeh (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) has committed to sign with the UMass Minutemen, according to multiple sources. He chose Massachusetts over Ohio.

Angeh also announced his decision on Twitter, "A long time coming! Taking my talents to Amherst! #UMass #D1Bound #Willows"

According to Rivals.com, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Colgate, Fordham, Holy Cross, James Madison, Lehigh, Richmond, Temple and Western Michigan also offered the 6-foot-2, 238-pound prospect.

Ball State lands LB Sean Wiggins

Butler High School (Matthews, N.C.) senior linebacker Sean Wiggins committed to play in the Mid-American Conference for Ball State, multiple sources report.

Air Force, Georgia State, Navy and Richmond also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect.

Wiggins is Ball State's fourth 2013 verbal from the Tar Heel State. One of his high school teammates, cornerback David Moore, announced for the Cardinals in August. Wiggins is also their third linebacker pledge.

The Cardinals now have 18 total commitments for this recruiting cycle.

Senior wide receiver Davon Grayson (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) has given his commitment to East Carolina, multiple sources report.

Grayson, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect, had several offers from Football Championship Subdivision programs including Furman, James Madison, Old Dominion, Richmond and Virginia Military. Some BCS schools such as Maryland, Virginia and Virginia showed interest.

Richmond has secured a verbal commitment from defensive tackle Kieno Jones (Atlanta, Ga./Grady), Kipp Adams of ESPN's DawgNation.com reports.

Buffalo, Cornell and Tennessee State also offered the 6-foot-1, 300-pounder.

Senior lineman Wendy Laurent (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School) committed to sign with Penn State Tuesday night, multiple sources report. He was on campus over the weekend for an official visit.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder, recruited to play offensive line by PSU, made two other official visits; Elon (Jan. 6) and Richmond (Jan. 13).

David Jones (Saint Petersburg, Fla.), who maintains a 4.2 weighted GPA, was looking for a school with a great academics and a competitive football team. He found both at Richmond and decided to become a Spider, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

"I thought it was a great academic school that plays great football. I really liked everything about it when I was there."

Outside linebacker Josh Kimberlin (Southaven, Miss./Southern Baptist Ed Center) has ended the process after committing to Samford, the Commercial Appeal reports.

Kimberlin was wowed by Samford's campus according to his father Brad:

"They just have an awesome campus. You probably won't find better facilities on the FCS level than what they have right now, and they're not done yet with all that they want to do."

Kimberlin canceled his scheduled visit to Richmond and he also had offers from Arkansas and Arkansas State.

Gee also received scholarship offers from Ball State, Elon and Furman.
